This week the art world descends upon Miami. With fifty thousand people expected to attend a staggering lineup of openings and exhibitions — plus countless places to eat, drink and play, whether you party like a Kardashian or Gagosian — deciding how to make the most of the weekend can be a challenge.
Where to squeeze in some art:
T.M.: If you are looking to escape South Beach and really take in the art, I suggest going across the bridge to Midtown Miami where some of the best satellite art fairs will be located, including Art Miami, ArtSpot Miami International Art Fair, Brazil ArtFair, CONTEXT and Miami Project.
M.F.: Check out the graffiti scene in Wynwood. It’s edgy, always changing, and you can even see some art in the making. You will find works by Kenny Scharf, Shepard Fairey, Retna, Glow and Miss Reds from the Few and Far Women crew, EL Chan Guri, FLMingo94, Molly Rose Freeman, Jose Mertz, Craola, GG and Chanoir 1980. And at the hotel we can organize a private tour with a local graffiti expert.
